Voice Teacher & Singing Voice Specialist
Lauren Urso is a Dallas-based cross-over singer, Musical Theatre actor, and voice teacher. She earned a Bachelor of Music in Musical Theatre and Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Oklahoma City University where her passion for and training in vocal pedagogy began. Lauren considers herself a lifelong learner and studies voice under her mentor, renowned teacher Dr. Courtney Crouse. Lauren is a second-generation student of both Musical Theatre belt pedagogue Mary Saunders-Barton and Metropolitan Opera soprano Carol Vaness.
As a performer, Lauren has sung across the world from New York City's 54 Below to the Tianjin Conservatory of Music in Tianjin, China. Before settling into her current home in Dallas, Texas, she worked with Carlton, Goddard, and Freer talent agency in New York City for two years. Professional Musical Theatre credits include Rock of Ages (Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma), 9 to 5 (Garland Summer Musicals), Rocky Horror (Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma), and Legally Blonde: In Concert (54 Below). In the classical realm, Lauren is an awarded soloist with the University of Texas’ Butler Opera Center Young Artist Program and has sung with the Fort Worth Opera.
As a private voice teacher, Lauren is on a mission to help singers make peace with their mind, body, and voice using a holistic approach combined with evidenced-based vocal techniques. She is passionate about healthy cross-genre singing that feels as good as it sounds, authentic artistry, and equipping her students with confidence and know-how. Lauren’s private voice studio is home to vocalists around the world, from the United States, Canada, and Europe including New York City actors, Disney performers, singer/songwriters, and any singer who is looking to clarify their vocal technique, sing with more ease, and build a better relationship with their voice.
